The dump (part 2)

April 4, 2012

This is how the design of the painting is evolving from the preliminary idea. I have been researching and visiting places to get more inspiration. To research, to contact, to organize, to ask for permissions, to travel, to visit, this is not easy job to do. It needs many days, flexibility, persistance and a lot of good luck, in fact many times I end up finding what I need more by chance than by methodic research! In the case of the dumps, most of them have refused me the entry with some excuse, even the ones that boast a program that allow visits, according to their websites. Perhaps not all of them trust the use of cameras, or who knows what else is the reason. However you always find kindness if you look further, and the human experience that lies behind a work of art is what makes it so special to the artist.

The models have already posed in my studio and this sketch in fact is based on various reference pictures gathered in that occasion. At this stage, the sketch is already a good approximation to what will be the final composition of the painting. I can’t wait to start working on canvas!

A more advanced, perhaps final study for my next painting.

He estado buscando y visitando lugares para inspirarme.
